StackHawk subscriptions with Jira Cloud integration enabled.

Issue

When attempting to send a scan result to Jira from the StackHawk platform, a failure message is encountered:

Failed to send 1 findings to Jira. Request failed with status code 500.

Cause

One or both of the following requirements aren't being met in the destination project in Jira Cloud:

  • the required issue type ('Bug') is not present

  • one of the required fields is either: 1) not present; or 2) is not being populated

Explanation:

The following description fields must be present in the target Jira Cloud project:

  • Summary

  • Description

  • Environment

If these fields aren't present in the project -- or if they are present but any of them does not have a default value configured -- sending a scan result to Jira will fail as the integration requires values to be populated for these fields.

Solution

Follow the instructions at Adding the Bug Issue Type to your Jira Project to set up the destination project for compatibility with the StackHawk Jira Cloud integration.

If it's not possible to have the 3 fields (each with accompanying default values), an alternative is to create a destination project in Jira Cloud that does have these fields/defaults, then move the resulting Jira Cloud tickets to other projects if/when necessary.

Additional Information

If you're using an On-Premises version of Jira rather than Jira Cloud, see StackHawk's Jira Data Center Integration for configuration details.
